The Year Of Worship: The Altar of His Presence Reading Schedule
I heard this spoken, which bears repeating, “as New Testament believers, its important to keep in mind that the Old Testament is written ‘for you,’ and the New Testament is written ‘to you.’” So, the New Testament describes in the book of Hebrews that the Old Testament is a “type” and that it “foreshadows” the New. So, we get types and shadows. The Apostle Paul also informed us that Mt. Sinai and Jerusalem, compared, were an allegory or representative types. The Old Testament tabernacle was a “type” of the True Tabernacle in Heaven.
So, when Aaron and his sons were instructed concerning the sin offering, they were to take the blood of the offering and apply it to the incense altar, the altar of sacrifice, thus cleansing the utensils of worship, but the body of the sacrifice was to be destroyed outside the camp. “Which type is Christ. Jesus’ blood was spilt in the place of justice, thus cleansing us of wrong doing, then He was destroyed on Calvary.” Outside of the camp. He then took His Blood to the Heavenly Holy of Holies as our High Priest, cleansing the place of worship.
There are many, many types that you will discover in the Old Testament. Just remember “you have a better covenant, built upon better promises.”
