Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent, experience working with preschool children in a group setting. Must have received, be in the process of receiving, or be willing to receive some classroom training in the education and development of young children. Must relate well to children, have a warm and friendly personality, and be able to work in harmony with other staff members. Must fulfill responsibilities in accordance with the center’s guidelines, vision of Christian values and education.

Responsibilities will include but not be limited to:

  • Assisting the teacher in planning and implementing the daily program in a manner consistent with a Christian philosophy of education and goals of the center, understanding that daily routines may include diaper-changing, toilet training, and include the following:
  • Treating each child with dignity and respect.
  • Recognizing and considering the individual needs of each child.
  • Helping children learn to think creatively, to solve problems independently, and to respect themselves and others.
  • Supervising the classroom, according to the plans of the teacher when the teacher is out of the room.
  • Helping with meals and preparation of snacks.
  • Assisting the teacher in other appropriate ways.
  • Maintaining professional attitudes, behavior, and dress at all times while on duty. This includes using the proper channels to air problems and complaints.
  • Participating in professional organizations that work for the improvement of early childhood education.
  • Maintaining strict confidentiality regarding children and their families.
  • Generally promoting a good rapport among staff members.
  • Sharing with the teacher the responsibility of maintaining a clean room.
  • Attending outside workshops when appropriate.
  • Maintain adherence to all safety and security guidelines
  • Follow all policies as outlined in the day care handbook

 Victory Christian Academy is an accredited Christian school serving the community for over 35 years. We are currently seeking dedicated, knowledgeable, professional full-time K-4 Teacher for the 2019-2020 school year, beginning mid-August 2019 to June 2020 to conduct elementary level courses.

We offer small class sizes and nurturing classrooms. We seek a dynamic classroom teacher that will engage our students academically in a loving and caring environment while fostering spiritual growth.

We require teachers with classroom experience along with involvement in a home church.

In K4, the Abeka curriculum is used which consists of Bible, Phonics, Cursive Handwriting, Numbers, Language, History and Science.

Contractual Hours: 7:30 – 4:00 pm and weekly staff meeting after school. Compensation includes partial tuition remission for enrolled employee children.

We offer small class sizes and nurturing classrooms. We seek dynamic classroom teachers that will engage our students academically in a loving and caring environment while fostering spiritual growth.

We require teachers with 4-year Degree and classroom experience along with involvement in a home church to teach Bible, Language, Spelling, History, Science, Math, Reading and Health for our students.

General requirements:

  • Requires knowledge of the concepts and principles of instruction.
  • Plans and delivers appropriate content to students and follows Teacher-generated lesson plans.
  • Prepares for classes assigned and shows evidence of preparation upon request of the immediate supervisor.
  • Collaborates with other colleagues in planning and delivering instruction to students.
  • Develops and maintains the physical environment of the classroom that is conducive to effective learning within the provided guidelines.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop instructional goals, to design and deliver instruction and to assess students’ learning.
  • Assesses student learning on an ongoing basis and alters instruction to meet group/individual needs.
  • Takes all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
  • Maintains order within the classroom setting in accordance with the VCA Handbook regarding student behavior management.
  • Demonstrates commitment to improving professional competence.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate and build excellent rapport with parents and students effectively, both orally and in writing.
  • Demonstrated ability in decision making, problem analysis, conflict resolution, interpersonal relationships, and planning.
