A Christ-centered recovery ministry.

Guidelines12 Healing Steps

The purpose of Faith Landmarks’ Restoration In Recovery will be to encourage fellowship and to celebrate God’s healing power in our lives as we work our way along the road to recovery. We are changed as we share our experience, strength and hope with one another. By working a program of recovery, we grow spiritually, restore hope, and let go of our past. The Mission of Restoration in Recovery is to help people address a variety of physical and emotional strongholds through worship, teaching, and personal recovery experience.

The 12 Healing Steps with Biblical references

1. We admitted we were powerless over our addictions and compulsive behaviors, that our lives had become unmanageable. (Romans 7:18)
2. Came to believe that a power greater than ourselves could restore us to sanity. (Philippians 2:13)
3. Made a decision to turn our will and our lives over to the care of God. (Romans 12:7)
4. Made a searching and fearless moral inventory of ourselves. (Lamentations 3:40)
5. Admitted to God, to ourselves, and to another human being the exact nature of our wrongs. (James 5:16a)
6. Were entirely ready to have God remove all these defects of character. (James 4:10)

7. Humbly asked Him to remove all our shortcomings. (1 John 1:9)
8. Made a list of all persons we had harmed and became willing to make amends to them all. (Luke 6:31)
9. Made direct amends to such people whenever possible, except when to do so would injure them or others. (Matthew 5:23-24)
10. Continued to take personal inventory and when we were wrong, promptly admitted it. (1 Corinthians 10:12)
11 . Sought through prayer and meditation to improve our conscious contact with God, praying only for knowledge of His will for us and power to carry that out. (Colossians 3:16a)
12. Having had a spiritual experience as the result of these steps, we tried to carry this message to others, and practice these principles in all our affairs. (Galatians 6:1)

Ecclesiastes 4:9-10, 12

Two are better than one, because they have a good return for their work: if one falls down, his friend can help him up. But pity the man who falls and has no one to help him up. Though one may be overpowered, two can defend themselves. A chord of three strands is not quickly broken.

The Road to Recovery

-Realize I’m not God; I admit that I am powerless to control my tendency to do the wrong thing and my life is unmanageable. (Matthew 5:3)
-Earnestly believe that God exists, that I matter to him, and that He has the power to help me recover. (Matthew 5:4)
-Consciously choose to commit all my life and will to Christ’s care and control. (Matthew 5:5)
-Openly examine and confess my faults to God, to myself, and to someone I trust. (Matthew 5:8)
-Voluntarily submit to every change God wants to make in my life and humbly ask Him to remove my character defects. (Matthew 5:6)
-Evaluate all my relationships. Offer forgiveness to those who have hurt me and make amends for harm I’ve done to others except when to do so would harm them or others. (Matthew 5:9)
-Reserve a daily time with God for self examination, Bible readings and prayer in order to know God and his will for my life and to gain the power to follow His will.
-Yield myself to God to be used to bring this Good News to others, both by my example and by my words. (Matthew 5:10)

Small Group Guidelines

1. Keep your sharing focused on your own thoughts and feelings (3 min. limit)
2. There will be no cross-talk, please. Cross-talk = 2 individuals engage in a dialogue, excluding all others. Each person is free to express their feelings without interruption.
3. We are here to support one another. We will not attempt to “fix” another.
4. Anonymity and confidentiality are basic requirements. What is shared in the group stays in the group! The only exception is when someone threatens to injure themselves or others.
5. Offensive language has no place in a Christ-centered recovery group, including no graphic descriptions.

God, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can, and wisdom to know the difference. Living one day at a time, enjoying one moment at a time, accepting hardship as a pathway to peace, taking as Jesus did, this sinful world as it is. Not as I would have it; trusting You will make all things right if I surrender to Your will so that I may be reasonably happy in this life and supremely happy with You forever in the next. AMEN!
